Bach & Co. is a small publishing house with big ambitions – also when it comes to climate and the environment. We make a conscious effort to make mindful choices throughout every part of the publishing process. We’re far from perfect – but we’ve already taken several concrete steps, and we’re continuously working to do better.
At this very early stage in the life of our publishing house, we’ve especially focused on making conscious decisions in our choice of IT solutions Going forward, we aim to apply the same approach to areas such as production and distribution.
Here you can see what we’ve already done – and what we’re working towards.
Digital operations
- Our website is hosted by Krystal – a UK-based, B Corp-certified provider running on 100% renewable energy and offsetting all its operations.
- Our email and cloud services run via Infomaniak in Switzerland, which is powered by green energy and uses certified environmental management, heat recovery, and hardware recycling.
- We use Brevo for newsletters – a European solution focused on CO₂ reduction.
Print and paper
- We print on FSC®-certified paper and prioritize European printing whenever possible – to reduce transportation and ensure higher environmental standards.
- We work with printers such as Livonia Print and Balto Print who work with documented climate and environmental goals.
Packaging and distribution
- Our distributor DBK is working on greener packaging solutions and more efficient logistics.
- When we ship books ourselves, we use plastic-free packaging and environmentally certified cardboard boxes and we avoid over-packaging.
Looking ahead
We’re not there yet – but we have a clear direction, and we’re working on:
- Documenting the carbon footprint of each publication
- Reduce overstock and avoid unnecessary shredding
- Phasing out plastic entirely in all packaging and production
- Embedding sustainability as a permanent part of our publishing strategy
We update this page regularly and welcome suggestions and questions.
